Swanton Morley Rovers

On Saturday the 18th of May, AFA-sponsored Swanton Morley Rovers (Under 9s) Football Team visited the world-renowned Carrow Road, home of the mighty Norwich City, for the Jeremy Goss Tournament. They won both of their games, and each player got a medal. Well done boys!

Kids day at The Clay Barn

TracyOn Friday 12th April 2013, AFA took the children who foster out for an activity day.
We visited The Clay Barn which is a craft studio dedicated to allowing children and adults to try something creative in a welcoming environment.
We started out by hand painting different pottery items such as hotdogs, trucks, ducks, pen pots, money boxes and other designs.
The children were very creative and enjoyed using the different colours to suit their piece of pottery.
We then left the pottery to be glazed with Lisa, the owner of Claybarn…she will be delivering the pieces very soon, watch this space!

A Trip to Thailand

ToniRecently I had a chance to go to Thailand to work for a week, something that I did not expect to happen. I was asked to go and help train staff who work with children in residential homes. In Thailand, children usually do not have the opportunities to live in foster families. This is something that is being developed though.

The thing that this trip taught me was the little differences in the way that people live, especially children. It became the thing that I would speak to my children about when I called them each day. I would like to share some of these with you:

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone, we hope you all have a good Easter break.

Money

EmmaEverybody needs money, you might have heard people say “money doesn’t grow on trees” or “I’m not made of money” and unfortunately that’s true, if you want money you either have to earn it or somebody must give it to you.

Carers and/or Parents might give you pocket money, relatives might pay money into a savings account for you or you might get given money for birthdays or Christmas – this is money as a gift.

It's world book day on the 7th of March!

EmmaIts world book day on the 7th March 2013! So I have asked AFA Staff to tell us about their favourite book and why they like it so much.
I love reading and always have my head in a book, I am currently reading the Beautiful Creatures series and am now on book 4 and can’t put them down! I can’t narrow down to one favourite book but I have read the Harry Potter books and the Twilight books so many times I’ve lost track, I think I like them because I can lose myself in a completely different world.
When I was younger my favourite book was the Tiger who came to Tea which is a story about a girl called Sophie who invites a tiger in for tea and he eats and drinks everything in the house.

Malc: My favourite book is always the one I am reading.  At the moment it is “Excalibur” which is a Mythical/Historical novel by Bernard Cornwell.
